TENSION SERIES
My works represent inner tensions by using the plastic language. An invisible strength emerges during the creation process. A tension appears through a variety of colors, between the presence and absence, between cold and hot, between volume and mass, rythms and silences.
Why is there such tension in a plane surface of artwork?
Colors transmit waves, vibrations. Those colors, when juxtaposed or superimposed interact and therefore create the first significant tensions. Also, the physical strength imposed by the artist on the canvas adds to the colors, creating therefore a genuine tension.
The first movement, the first rough sketch of lines and touches of colors are the origin of my works. The artpiece progresses and takes form under tension of dialogues, motions and colors that further become timepieces and moments, now frozen, now lowkey on the canvas. Finally, it only stops when the emotion squirts out of the tension created between balance and off-balance. This emotion expresses itself freely with the complicity of the light on the surface.
This obscure reality haunts me till I conclude to name this theme TENSION
